"Acutus ad Serviendum"

Sharpened to Serve

Is the motto of Bizweni Training Centre. Since its opening in August 1998, a growing number of students have been stimulated, shaped and above all, as the motto proclaims, sharpened by their study of God's Word to make them more effective in their service of Christ.

Emphasis of the Training Centre

The emphasis at Bizweni Training Centre is on Biblical theology applied with a prophetic emphasis: theology that challenges the status quo with the Word of God, and flowing in the present apostolic season. Far from being content to see its graduates merely filling pews, Bizweni Training Centre aims to send them out to become world-changers, challenging unrighteousness in the real world with the radical claims of Christ and His kingdom. To achieve this, theology must be relevant. The Training Centre seeks to contextualize the faith to address the vast social changes eminent in today's world of the third millennium. In the conviction that Christianity is "faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints" (Jude 1:3), the Training Centre ensures that its contextualisation remains within the boundaries of Biblical faith.

Doctrinal Basis

Bizweni Training Centre is established on the premise that the Bible is the revealed Word of God, authoritative in all matters of doctrine and practice. The staff is trinitarian in belief, holding that a relationship with God the Father comes only through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son, and that the Holy Spirit is given to empower and provide spiritual gifts and ministries in the church. We expect to see the growth of God's kingdom in this age, leading to its full manifestation at the triumphant return of Christ.

College Faculty

The Training Centre operates with a small fulltime staff because we believe it is important to expose students to practising apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers rather than just to full-time theologians.

Location

The Training Centre is situated on a beautiful 10 acres site in Somerset West, about 50km from Cape Town in South Africa. While only a Stone's throw away from the business centre, the college itself enjoys an idyllic rural setting whose peaceful surroundings are ideal for study. With golden beaches, nature trails and majestic mountains only a few minutes away, there is ample opportunity for recreation!

Founder and Apostolic Leader

founder
The program is overseen by Kobus Swart, the Training Centre's founder and apostolic leader of the Southern Harvest Ministries team. Apart from his academic qualifications, which include a B.Sc Degree, N.T.D. (National Teacher’s Diploma) and an M.A. (Theology), Kobus has been in full time ministry since 1974. His first exposure to the apostolic ministry came in 1973. He then had the privilege of sitting under, and flowing with, an apostolic team based in the USA, known as The Living Word Fellowship, founded by Stevens, for the first ten years of his ministry. During this time, he became actively involved in church planting and ministry. Following that season, Kobus became part of an apostolic team based in the UK lead by Bryn Jones. Currently Kobus and his wife Hazel, with a team of ministries are in networking relationship with apostolic teams in different nations. Most regular teachers at this college are a part of the local team and ministries from these related International networks.
