God has chosen us; He has decided that through the administration of the Church His purposes will be fulfilled in the end time.
Even when things go wrong and are against you, even if you feel you cannot make headway and difficult circumstances come, we must say, “Lord, we believe.” The Word is our sustenance. He brought us forth by the Word of truth. We are birthed and conceived by a Word of truth.
The Lord appeared to Moses and gave Him a Word that he would deliver the people out of oppression. His first words were, “Who am I?” The enemy attacked his identity, the very essence of who he was. When the Lord gives you a Word, the enemy is going to challenge that.
Moses doubted his own abilities and God became angry with him. God calls you by His Word. He has chosen you as His son, as His Church, as His sent one. Eventually God gave him Aaron. Through all the doubts and fears, God comes and gives us help in the form of His Aaron. Moses was to be as God to him, meaning the Word came directly from Moses through Aaron to be delivered to the people.
After one confrontation with Pharaoh, Moses had to go back to the Lord. “Why did you ever send me?” After one confrontation Moses was wiped out. Even after the Living Word He has given us, even after He has conceived has, upheld and sustained us, we can still have utterances like a Moses. We have so much and yet sometimes we doubt God when things become difficult.
Gabriel had a message to Zachariah, father of John the Baptist. After 400 years of slavery and silence Gabriel appears to Zachariah. Zachariah says, “How will I know this for certain?” (Luke 1:18). He was silent and unable to speak because he did not believe.
John came and made preparation in the spirit of Elijah. People were in a state of expectation and wondering whether John was the Christ, then Christ appeared on the scene. As the corporate son of God, we should be in a state of expectation. God has given a Word, and that Word will be delivered. Even if we don’t see it, we will pass on the baton to the next generation because God has said! We cannot put our hand to the plough and look back. God has called us, God has given the Word, God has given miraculous signs; He has given us help.
Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, was led into the wilderness and was tempted by the devil. “If you are the Son of God ….” The enemy doesn’t change his tactics. As with the first son, Satan wanted to abort and frustrate the purposes of God. It was not a small confrontation (Jesus in the wilderness). It was cosmic. Satan challenged the very authenticity of the Son of God.
If we were brought forth and conceived by the Word of truth, should it not be our sustenance? He is the living bread which came down from heaven.
It is not enough to quote Scriptures to the devil. Jesus was able to withstand Satan successfully because he was not just quoting Scriptures, He was the Word made flesh. That is the only way the corporate son will succeed. We who are conceived by the Word will be sustained by the Word if we make the Word our own. We are becoming the Word. It is not the quoting of the Word; we are becoming the Word in the earth. This is what keeps us alive. That is what keeps us going as children of God. He speaks to us as individuals but He speaks to us now in the corporate. He wants a corporate son, a mature son. He wants to open the heavens and say to the world and to the demonic hosts, “This is My son, My corporate son.” The Lord always had the corporate in mind; Moses and the 70 elders; Peter taking his stand with the eleven; Jesus with the twelve. God wants to speak through His corporate son in the earth.
Make no mistake, as with God’s first two sons, we will face temptation. The enemy does not want you to become the Word, so he’s going to challenge the Word in you. You will be confronted.
If we have been conceived by the true Word, will we stumble? Will we fall? Will we doubt ourselves? Will our own identity as people of God be challenged until we say, “Lord, I cannot do it, please send somebody else”? God says, “I’ll be with you.”
Consider it all joy when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. Yes, trials will come; you need a Word from God every day, a living on-going Word from God.
